Nieves graduated as an architect from the Polytechnic University of Madrid in 2008 with a Masters degree in Architecture; during her studies she also completed an Erasmus year at the Institut supérieur d’Architecture de la Communauté française de Belgique in Brussels.
Before moving to London she worked for 4 years in practices in Spain and Portugal, as well as developing her own projects as a freelance architect. A desire to develop her professional experience in the UK led her to London in 2012 where she joined Studiodare Architects.
Since joining the practice, Nieves has worked extensively on the Northern Line Extension for Transport for London, producing architectural packages for the Transport and Works Act Order. She has also been involved in residential projects and competition bids.
Nieves is interested in mathematics and geometry and the opportunity for their application in architecture and parametric design. This interest results in a strong capacity for architectural problem solving and visual communication, which she also applies to jewellery design. In addition to her work as a designer, she is studying for a Post Graduate Certificate in Education in mathematics.
